From 9 to 10 September 2026, PHKCCI promoted the participation of its members in the 11th Belt and Road Summit at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Jointly organised by the HKSAR Government and HKTDC, the Summit brought together government officials, business leaders, investors and project owners to explore trade, investment and cooperation opportunities across Belt and Road markets.

PHKCCI President Bernardo Mendia published an opinion article in China Daily entitled “Enabling, not squeezing: China’s development enlarges the global industrial pie for shared prosperity across the Global South.” The article examined China’s role in supporting industrial development across emerging markets and highlighted the potential of trilateral cooperation between Portugal, Hong Kong, Macau and the wider CPLP market.

PHKCCI President Bernardo Mendia published an opinion article on SAPO on 29 July 2026 entitled “Inteligência Artificial: Três Filosofias Regionais, Uma Corrida Global.” The article explored the different approaches of the United States, Europe and China to AI development and regulation, with a focus on open-source models, sovereign AI, data security and the implications for international business and technological competitiveness.

From 9 to 10 July 2026, PHKCCI joined the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide Europe Forum in Sheffield, United Kingdom. Represented by its General Secretary, Carlos Torres, the Chamber took part in discussions with Hong Kong Business Associations from Europe and other regions, exchanging market insights and exploring new opportunities for trade, investment and international cooperation.

On 8 July 2026, PHKCCI co-hosted a Business Drinks & Networking event at ANJE Restaurante Lounge in Porto, together with several bilateral Chambers of Commerce and ANJE. The event brought together entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals from different sectors to exchange ideas, expand their networks and explore new business opportunities.

PHKCCI supported the 5th International Forum of Bilateral Chambers of Commerce in Portugal, held on 1 July 2026 at the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel. Organised by the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie Luso-Française, the event brought together bilateral Chambers of Commerce, international buyers and market experts for sector-focused conferences, networking and new international business opportunities.

From 22 to 26 June 2026, PHKCCI co-organised Portugal’s participation at the China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing, alongside the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The Portugal Stand brought together several PHKCCI members and welcomed representatives from the Portuguese Embassy and AICEP, helping promote new business connections and stronger economic cooperation between Portugal and China.

PHKCCI was represented by Alex Lam, Secretary of the Board, at the HKTDC 60th Anniversary celebrations in Hong Kong on 16 June 2026. The programme included the Next 60 Forum and the 60th Anniversary Cocktail Reception, bringing together more than 1,000 representatives from the public and business sectors to reflect on Hong Kong’s economic transformation and future opportunities.

As part of Global Oeiras Ocean Days 2026, PHKCCI supported the Portugal-China Green Maritime Fuels & Decarbonization Forum, held at Templo da Poesia in Oeiras on 1 June 2026. Bernardo Mendia joined the programme as a speaker, contributing to discussions on Portugal–China cooperation, maritime decarbonization and the strategic links between the Atlantic, the Greater Bay Area and international clean energy platforms.

In May 2026, PHKCCI President Bernardo Mendia was awarded the “Prémio Carreira 2026” by Vida Económica. The distinction recognised his longstanding contribution to strengthening economic, commercial and institutional relations between Portugal, China and Hong Kong.

PHKCCI Secretary-General Carlos Torres took part in the official visit of H.E. Yang Yirui, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Portugal, to the Municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso on 29 May 2026. The visit brought together local authorities, business associations and representatives of the business community to discuss opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, education and culture.

A Business Drinks & Networking event was held at Católica Porto School of Business and Economics on 19 May 2026, with the participation of PHKCCI. The gathering brought together entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals from different sectors and international communities to exchange ideas, expand professional networks and explore new business opportunities.

More than 200 professionals from different sectors and nationalities gathered at the Scale Bar & Terrace of EPIC SANA Lisboa Hotel on 13 May 2026 for a Business Drinks & Networking event organised with PHKCCI, several bilateral Chambers of Commerce and ANJE. From April to November 2026, PHKCCI supported the International Sci-Tech Innovation Competition for China and Portuguese- & Spanish-Speaking Countries, in partnership with the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The initiative connects startups, innovative companies and technology teams with investors and business opportunities in the Greater Bay Area, supporting their international expansion into China.

PHKCCI Secretary-General Carlos Torres joined the BTOCNET Norte Summit 2026 as a speaker on 23 April at Arena Liga Portugal in Porto. His session, “The Power of Hong Kong: Competitive Advantages for Your Business,” focused on Hong Kong’s competitive strengths and its role as a strategic platform for international business expansion.

As part of his official visit to China, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, President of the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal, visited Hong Kong on 11 April 2026, accompanied by members of the Portugal–China Parliamentary Friendship Group. PHKCCI joined representatives of the Portuguese community and local institutions in welcoming the delegation, helping reinforce longstanding Portugal–Hong Kong ties across parliamentary, institutional, business and community levels.

PHKCCI President Bernardo Mendia published an opinion article in China Daily on 7 April 2026 entitled “Considered positioning”. The article examined Portugal–China relations and highlighted Portugal’s role as an Atlantic gateway, opportunities for deeper cooperation in innovation and trade, and the importance of multilateralism in a more balanced and resilient phase of globalisation.

PHKCCI joined other bilateral Chambers of Commerce for a Business Drinks & Networking event at Arts Hotel Porto on 20 March 2026. The gathering provided an informal setting for professionals to connect, exchange ideas and explore new business opportunities.

On 10 March 2026, PHKCCI, together with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Invest Hong Kong, organised a cocktail reception at Monte Mar restaurant in Lisbon to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The event brought together Chinese government representatives, members of the diplomatic community and key decision-makers from the start-up ecosystem.

On 10 March 2026, PHKCCI was represented by Alex Lam, Un I Wong and Ms Lao at the Mainland Spring Reception and Mainland Enterprises GoGlobal Forum in Hong Kong. The event brought together around 800 representatives from Mainland enterprises and the wider business community, highlighting Hong Kong’s role as a global platform for international business expansion.

On 10 February 2026, PHKCCI President Bernardo Mendia represented the Chamber at the “2026 China (Futian, Shenzhen) – Portugal (Lisbon) Economic and Commercial Cooperation Exchange Event” in Lisbon. The event brought together institutional and business representatives from Portugal and China to strengthen economic dialogue and explore new opportunities for bilateral cooperation, with particular focus on Futian, a key economic and financial district in Shenzhen.

In February 2026, PHKCCI Vice President Gonçalo Frey-Ramos met in Hong Kong with representatives from Shijie, Dongguan, to explore potential areas of cooperation. Discussions focused on Shijie’s electronics manufacturing base and its role in supplying fresh produce to the Hong Kong market, with plans for a future visit to assess further opportunities for PHKCCI members.

On 28 January 2026, PHKCCI joined a Business Drinks & Networking event at The Yeatman in Vila Nova de Gaia. The gathering brought together professionals from different industries in an informal setting to exchange ideas, build connections and explore new business opportunities.

The Annual General Assembly of PHKCCI took place on 26 January 2026 at Moxy Alfragide Lisboa. The meeting included the election of the new Governing Bodies for the 2026–2028 term and provided an opportunity to review the Chamber’s achievements over the previous year.

On 22 January 2026, PHKCCI took part in the World Green Design Organization Annual Conference and the Green Design International Awards Ceremony in Brussels. During the event, PHKCCI and WGDO signed a Memorandum of Understanding appointing the Chamber as the representative of the Portugal Chapter. Two Portuguese projects proposed by PHKCCI, ESG ACCESS and PróToiro, also received international recognition.

On 20 January 2026, another edition of the Business Drinks & Networking event took place at Martinhal Lisboa Oriente, with the participation of PHKCCI. From 15 to 20 January 2026, PHKCCI supported Nova School of Business and Economics in organising a five-day study tour to Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macau. The programme gave Portuguese MSc students direct exposure to leading institutions, innovation hubs and key stakeholders across the region’s business and technology ecosystem, while strengthening knowledge exchange between Portugal and the Greater Bay Area.

PHKCCI participated, from 4 to 6 December 2025, in the Global Artificial Intelligence Machines and Electronics Expo 2025 (AIE 2025) and the Asian Electronic Forum 2025 (AEF 2025), held in Macau and Zhuhai. The events focused on developments in artificial intelligence, smart electronics and industrial integration within the Greater Bay Area, while providing platforms for international dialogue, partnership building and cross-border cooperation.

PHKCCI participated, from 2 to 3 December 2025, in the 26th Hong Kong Forum, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide (FHKBAW). The Forum brought together more than 320 business leaders from 33 countries and regions to discuss Hong Kong’s role as a strategic platform for global business expansion, innovation and connectivity, particularly within the Greater Bay Area.

Invest Hong Kong and PHKCCI co-hosted the “Friends of Hong Kong Dinner” in Lisbon during Web Summit week, from 11 to 13 November 2025. The gathering brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs and long-standing friends of Hong Kong for an evening of networking and exchange focused on strengthening economic and commercial ties between Portugal and Hong Kong.

PHKCCI participated, on 30 October 2025, in the 10th edition of the Luso-Chinese Gala. The event brought together representatives from the business community, public institutions and diplomatic circles, providing a platform for networking, dialogue and the promotion of stronger economic, cultural and institutional ties between Portugal and China.

The Business Drinks & Networking event took place on 29 October 2025 at Matriarca wine bar in Porto. PHKCCI joined, on 19 September 2025, the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide Europe Forum 2025, which took place in Milan, hosted by the Associazione Italia Hong Kong and led by President Riccardo Fuochi, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
The Forum brought together representatives from Hong Kong Business Associations across Europe to discuss the future of Hong Kong as a pivotal connection platform between Asia and Europe, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and innovation.

PHKCCI participated, on 14 September 2025, in the 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), held in Beijing. Represented by Bernardo Mendia, President of PHKCCI, the Chamber joined the high-level forum “Going Global · New Opportunities: Forum on Global Industrial Cooperation Practices” and contributed to the roundtable “Challenges and Breakthroughs: Multi-Party Collaboration to Solve the Cooperation Issues in Globalization of Intelligent Manufacturing.”

PHKCCI was invited by the Belt and Road Office of the HKSAR Government to participate, on 12 September 2025, in the closed-door roundtable session “Building Collaborative Capacity for Sustainable Development through Hong Kong”, held at the 10th Belt and Road Summit.
This prestigious session, held alongside the main Summit, served as a pivotal platform for members of the Belt and Road Global Forum. The Forum itself is a key initiative that brings together influential international business leaders to foster multi-sectoral collaboration and advance the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) goals of shared growth and connectivity.

On March 26-27, PHKCCI attended the JUMPSTARTER 2025, one of the most dynamic startup and tech conferences in Hong Kong, organized by the Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund (AEF). On March 20th, Alex Lam, member of PHKCCI, attended the Heilongjiang-Hong Kong Investment Cooperation Conference organized by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Commerce. The international event Informal Business Drinks was held on January 31st, at Epic Sana Lisboa Hotel, and it was organized in collaboration between PHKCCI and other bilateral Portuguese Chambers. Held on January 27th, this session, part of the 'International Selling: Channels, Goals, and Analysis' subject, provided an excellent opportunity to share insights on the role of international Chambers of Commerce —particularly PHKCCI—in supporting companies in their internationalization journey and fostering bilateral trade. The discussion engaged senior executives from diverse industries, who showed great interest in how Chambers of Commerce facilitate global business expansion.

On January 20th, PHKCCI - represented by our President, Bernardo Mendia - participated in an exclusive luncheon in Brussels hosted by the EU-China Business Association (EUCBA) with H.E. Cai Run, Ambassador of China to the EU and Head of the Chinese Mission to the EU. Welcomed by Jochum Haakma, President of EUCBA, Ambassador Cai Run shared his insights on the future of EU-China trade and investment relations. The event also featured a thought-provoking Q&A session, allowing business leaders to exchange strategic perspectives on strengthening bilateral cooperation. The discussions fostered mutual understanding and trust, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in today’s evolving economic landscape.

The third session of the 13th Anhui Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held at the Anhui Grand Theater on January 19th, 2025. Carmen Wu, a PHKCCI Board Member and one of the conference delegates, was interviewed and highlighted Anhui's strengths in technology and education. The gathering brought together over 700 delegates to shape a new chapter in Anhui's modernization under the "14th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development."

The 25th Hong Kong Forum was held on December 4–5, 2024, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide (FHKBAW). The event brought together over 320 participants from 28 countries to engage with prominent leaders, including the Chief Executive of the HKSAR. PHKCCI also joined a side trip to Shenzhen and Huizhou to explore the transformative developments shaping the Greater Bay Area.

This prestigious event, held on December 2, 2024, at Maxim’s Palace in Hong Kong, brought together representatives from consulates, chambers of commerce, Investment Promotion Ambassadors, overseas business leaders, and investors.

The Hong Kong-Portugal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HKPCCI) held its first Annual General Meeting on November 29, 2024. HKPCCI aims to strengthen business ties between Portugal and Hong Kong, promote opportunities, and support individuals and companies in building connections. A new Governing Body was elected to lead the Chamber for the next three years, focusing on attracting members and advancing shared goals.

On November 29, 2024, PHKCCI hosted the Comendador Dr. Ambrose So Award 2024 Ceremony at the prestigious Club Lusitano in Hong Kong. This year’s award was presented to Mr. Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) of the Hong Kong S.A.R., in recognition of his contributions. The event brought together prominent business and government leaders from Portugal, Hong Kong, and beyond.

The Hong Kong Networking Cocktail, a Web Summit side-event, was held on November 12, 2024, and took place at Second Home in Lisbon, Portugal. This event was organized by Invest Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Brussels, with support from the PHKCCI and AJEPC.

The international event Informal Business Drinks was held on November 8, 2024, at Terminal de Cruzeiros de Leixões in Matosinhos, Porto. Organized by ANJE in collaboration with several Portuguese chambers of commerce, the event provided participants with valuable networking and global business opportunities.

On October 17, 2024, PHKCCI celebrated its 5th anniversary at the Ando Living Rooftop in Lisbon, an event organized by Optylon Krea, a PHKCCI Supporting Member. Guests enjoyed networking cocktails, followed by a welcome speech and company presentation from Mr. William Tonnard, President & COO of Optylon Krea. Ms. Judith Padros Rombouts, representing the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), shared valuable insights on the HKTDC and the business opportunities in Hong Kong.

Our Board Member, Carmen Wu, alongside former colleague Ana Bertazzo Lemos, now residing in Hong Kong, represented PHKCCI at the event. The event was held at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, celebrating China’s commitment to ecological conservation and Hong Kong’s inspiring environmental progress.

The international event Informal Business Drinks took place at The Lodge Hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia on September 12th. This event, organized in collaboration with several Portuguese chambers of commerce, offers a unique opportunity to network across different cultures and industries.

Carmen Wu, a Board Member of the Portugal-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHKCCI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of PHKCCI in Hong Kong. This agreement, finalized during the Belt and Road Summit 2024, focuses on supporting the construction of the "Going Global" Comprehensive Service Center for Chinese Enterprises. The MoU reinforces the collaboration between key international partners to provide full life-cycle, one-stop services for Chinese enterprises expanding globally.

The Europe Forum 2024 brought together representatives from Hong Kong Business Associations across Europe to discuss the future of Hong Kong as a pivotal connection platform between Asia and Europe. All the Business Associations of Hong Kong present at the event are part of the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide (FHKBAW), a unique network of 48 Hong Kong Business Associations in 37 countries and regions with close to 11,000 individual associates. This network plays a crucial role in promoting business opportunities and connections globally.

This seminar was held on July 4, 2024, in Amsterdam, organized by the Netherlands Hong Kong Business Association (NHKBA). With a focus on Energy Transition & Logistics and Sustainable Initiatives from Global Players, this event brought together influential leaders who shared their insights on the transformative journey towards sustainability and explored the future landscape of Hong Kong.

This Informal Business Drink at ANJE took place in Porto and it was organized by PHKCCI and its fellow Chambers of Commerce: BPCC - British Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Luso-Alemã / AHK Portugal, Câmara de Comércio Luso-Belga-Luxemburguesa, Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry - CCILC, Câmara de Comércio Luso-Colombiana, Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Luso-Brasileira and CCPH - Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce.

Lisbon hosted the inaugural edition of the Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Chambers of Commerce Network Worldwide (RCCPM). This network is comprised of 64 Portuguese Chambers of Commerce from 46 countries and 5 continents. The event saw the attendance of notable figures, including the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, and the Minister of Economy, Pedro Reis, among other distinguished authorities and entities. The members of RCCPM also had the honour of visiting the Portuguese Parliament, and being received by the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luís Montenegro, at Palacete de São Bento. They were also welcomed at the Lisbon City Hall by Mayor Carlos Moedas.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to strengthen ties between Hong Kong SAR and Oeiras, Portugal. This collaboration aims to promote investment and foster mutual growth.

This conference brought together leaders and professionals connected to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and provided valuable insights into the business environment and opportunities in this region. We were honored to hear from our distinguished keynote speaker, Mr. Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong SAR Government of the P.R.C. The event was co-hosted and sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels (HKETO), and organized by the Portugal-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry. PHKCCI attended the 4th Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH) & the 15th edition of the Hong Kong International Medical & Healthcare Fair. These are flagship events of the third International Healthcare Week, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

The ASGH featured 15 plenary and thematic sessions, bringing together over 80 international experts to discuss critical topics, such as healthy aging, innovative technology, and medical insurance. The Hong Kong International Medical & Healthcare Fair has attracted over 12,000 buyers and more than 300 exhibitors from 60 countries and regions. It has provided a wide range of latest top-notch medical technologies and equipment, along with medical, healthcare and related services.

It was an incredible opportunity to connect with global leaders and explore the latest trends and innovations in the healthcare industry. We were especially proud to see Pedro Cunha Guimaraes, CEO of Lifeway Lda, and a Supporting Member of PHKCCI, participating in these prestigious events.

Mr. Eurico Santos and Ms. Emily Lao from Quinta da Marmeleira, a Corporate Gold Member of PHKCCI, attended the Ibero-American Community Networking Reception 2024 in Hong Kong today, hosted by Invest Hong Kong. PHKCCI was represented at the function by Vice-President Gonçalo Frey-Ramos.

Nearly 300 representatives from consulates, chambers of commerce and companies from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Spain, Portugal and Venezuela joined the celebrations.
